Overview
A fast-paced, process-oriented manufacturer with a long operating history is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Area Manager to lead a key department within a 24/7/365 production facility. This role is critical to driving safety, quality, and continuous improvement across an assigned area, and offers a clear path for advancement as new product lines launch.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of safety, quality, KPIs, employee development, productivity, and continuous improvement for an assigned area of the plant
- Participate within the management team to meet overall plant objectives
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and data collection
- Optimize scheduling and changeover activities
- Develop and attain production-related goals, objectives, and targeted measurables
- Hold team members accountable to established goals and directives
- Identify process improvements to decrease scrap, increase efficiencies, and find cost savings
- Coach, mentor, develop, and lead direct and indirect reports, including Production Supervisors
- Adjust staffing levels as needed based on production schedules and goals
- Complete root cause analysis and implement countermeasures
- Spend up to 50% of time on the manufacturing floor supporting 24/7/365 operations
- Perform other duties as directed by the Plant Manager
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of five years of similar manufacturing operations management experience
- Experience in process-oriented manufacturing environments (e.g., chemical, coating, refinery, food, beverage, packaging)
- Strong commitment to a safety-first mentality
- Experience completing continuous improvement functions, including scrap reduction and line efficiency improvements
- Experience overseeing direct and indirect reports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- ERP experience
- Experience working in highly automated environments
- Lean Certification
- Willingness to relocate in the future for promotional opportunities
- Supervision experience in non-union work environments
- Local to the Kansas City area (relocation package offered for qualifying candidates)
