Job summary

Ambs Chemical Search LLC is seeking an Area Manager to lead chemical manufacturing operations in Groton, CT. This is a hands-on, senior leadership role overseeing chemical processes, production, safety, quality, and a team of engineers and operators.

You will drive process optimization, troubleshoot complex operations, perform mass and energy balances, develop schedules, maintain batch records, and ensure compliance with PSM, MOC, LOTO, EHS, and quality requirements while supporting customer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with 3+ years of experience.
  • MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering with 2+ years of experience.
  • Experience with batch and/or continuous chemical operations.
  • Strong knowledge of reaction kinetics, mixing, heat transfer, crystallization, and related unit operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex chemical processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including mass and energy balances.
  • Experience with SCADA, LabVIEW, or similar process control systems.
  • Strong leadership, project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in a regulated chemical manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safe operation of batch and continuous chemical processes.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor engineers and chemical operators.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and drive improvements.
  • Perform mass/energy balances and analyze process data.
  • Support process optimization, scale‑up, and production improvements.

  • Maintain accurate production documentation, batch records, and operating procedures.
  • Develop project schedules and coordinate activities related to safety, quality, cost, and timelines.
  • Train and mentor technical and operations personnel.
  • Support customer presentations, technical proposals, and site visits as needed.
