The Chamberlain Group LLC is seeking a Senior Manager, Quality Engineering to lead a small elite team of SDETs. You will drive automation tools and AI-first testing across Mobile, Web, and APIs, enabling 30+ engineering squads to own quality end-to-end.
As a hands-on technical leader, you will shape the automation roadmap, partner with Product and Platform leaders, and modernize frameworks with scalable AI-assisted testing. Expect travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
Chamberlain Group (CG) is a global leader in intelligent access and Blackstone portfolio company. Powered by our myQ technology, we make access simple and secure for millions of homeowners, businesses, and communities worldwide. Our flagship brands, LiftMaster® and Chamberlain® , are found in 51+ million homes, and 14 million+ people rely on the myQ® app daily. We're reimagining what quality engineering means for a connected‑home platform serving 36 million households — and we need a leader who's obsessed with the customer experience behind every release. As Senior Manager, Quality Engineering, you'll lead a small, elite team of SDETs who build the tools, agents, and platforms that let 30+ engineering squads own their own quality: writing their own test cases, authoring their own BDDs, running their own regression suites, and continuously raising the bar. This isn't a traditional QA leadership role — it's a mandate to modernize automation across Mobile, Web, and APIs with an AI‑first mindset, replacing manual gatekeeping with intelligent, self‑service quality practices. If you believe great quality engineering is a force multiplier, not a bottleneck, this is your platform.
Own the vision and roadmap for automation and quality engineering practice across Mobile, Web, and API surfaces, with an AI‑first approach to test generation, execution, and maintenance. Lead the design and delivery of internal tools, agents, and self‑service applications that enable 30+ squads to independently write test cases, author BDD scenarios, build automation, and run their own regression testing. Champion a relentless focus on customer experience — partnering with Product, Platform, and Engineering leaders to ensure quality signals reflect real‑world usage, not just pass/fail test counts. Modernize and refresh existing automation frameworks, retiring brittle or manual approaches in favor of scalable, AI‑augmented testing patterns (e.g., self‑healing tests, generative test‑case creation, intelligent test selection). Define and drive adoption of quality engineering standards, patterns, and guardrails that squads can adopt without requiring central bottlenecks. Establish meaningful quality metrics (escaped defects, coverage, flake rate, MTTR for test failures, regression cycle time) and use them to drive continuous improvement across the organization. Evaluate and integrate emerging AI/agentic tooling for test authoring, visual validation, synthetic data generation, and autonomous regression. Act as a hands‑on technical leader — staying close to the code, architecture, and tooling decisions your team makes, not just the roadmap. Partner cross‑functionally with Platform, SRE, Mobile, and Cloud engineering leaders to embed quality earlier in the SDLC (shift‑left) and reduce escaped defects in production. Represent Quality Engineering in architecture reviews, planning ceremonies, and executive reporting on release readiness and quality health. Foster a coaching culture within squads — enable embedded engineers to build genuine automation and testing capability rather than depending on a central QE team. Support Engineering Managers in the evaluation and performance management expectations in a “dotted line” supervisory structure for Quality Engineering roles. Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams. Protect Chamberlain Group’s reputation by keeping information confidential. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally - up to 10%.
