Job summary

The Chamberlain Group LLC is seeking a senior infrastructure engineer to design and operate cloud-based platforms powering our IoT and software products. You will lead initiatives from inception through deployment, collaborate with global teams, and guide automation and security practices to keep systems scalable and secure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree may substitute for up to 2 years.
  • 7+ years in infrastructure and operations including design, DR, and security.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Scrum.
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS or others.
  • IaC at scale using Terraform and ArgoCD.
  • Kubernetes experience.
  • Observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic.
  • Linux, Windows, and Active Directory experience.

Overview

This role will be responsible for taking aspects of software engineering and applying them to cloud infrastructure and operations solutions powering myQ, an industry leading IoT cloud platform. The position requires demonstrated software development skills and experience in a cloud environment with both Linux and Windows system expertise, as well as designing and implementing systems at scale on a highly available global cloud platform. Collaboration with globally distributed teams and stakeholders is essential.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer infrastructure environment & platform to solve current challenges and create future opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the platform from inception through design, implementation, and optimization, working with many teams and team members.
  • Establish relationships with business members, technical staff, and subject matter experts to help create and execute the infrastructure roadmap.
  • Correspond with TECH/IT executives and stakeholders to maintain and execute the infrastructure roadmap.
  • Provide forward‑thinking technology and innovative solutions with a strong emphasis on automating infrastructure and technology solutions.
  • Evolve PaaS implementations, working with vendor solutions and cloud services.
  • Participate in monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for security and infrastructure events.
  • Accountable for accomplishing tasks independently and collaboratively; deliver high‑quality work in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Provide leadership, assistance, and technical guidance to the SRE team.
  • Facilitate and manage discussions with TECH/IT executives, architects, and senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with the security team on architecture design and tools.
  • Govern the Infrastructure as a Service environment; stay current on overall TECH/IT strategy, business goals, technology trends, updates, and releases.
  • Comply with security requirements set forth by the Information Security team and the ISO 27001 Security Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities documented in the ISMS Document Library.
  • Indirect supervisory role as a team leader, leading projects from inception to implementation and guiding other team members to successful completion.
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; ensure compliance across teams.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group’s reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating in projects as needed.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field. An advanced degree in a directly applicable area may substitute for up to two (2) years of job‑related experience.
  • 7+ years of infrastructure and operations experience, including design, implementation, disaster recovery, and network security architecture and engineering.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Scrum.
  • Experience in software development.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or others.
  • Experience with IaC at scale using tools like Terraform and ArgoCD.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic.
  • Experience with Linux, Windows platforms, and Active Directory.
  • Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to debug, troubleshoot, and self‑diagnose issues in software development.
  • Proficiency in network architecture design and documentation.
  • Enjoyment of working in the technology field and a good general understanding of how technology works in various areas.
  • Good communication skills, self‑motivation, and the ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced, efficient environment.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Relevant certifications in cloud engineering (AWS preferred).
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience in IoT and durable goods industry.
  • Experience as a team leader.
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure at scale.
  • Experience optimizing cloud costs at scale.
  • Advanced knowledge of network security, VPC design, firewall management, and secure connectivity.
  • Knowledge of security tools and mitigations (SIEM, edge firewalls).
  • Deep expertise in Terraform and other IaC frameworks with proven production experience.
  • Mastery of Kubernetes architecture, deployment, and GitOps automation using Argo CD or equivalent.
  • Strong programming and automation skills in PowerShell, Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
Compensation & Benefits

The pay range for this position is $102,600.00 – $193,425.00; base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. In addition to base pay, a comprehensive benefits package and 401(k) contribution are offered (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). This position is eligible for participation in a short‑term incentive plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
