Job summary

CyberCoders, a leading public accounting firm in Michigan, seeks a Sr. Manager/Principal in Audit & Assurance to oversee engagements from planning to report and to lead client communications.

This senior role requires 10+ years in audit, a CPA, HUD/EBP/non-profit experience, and a track record of mentoring staff; you will drive growth and collaborate with tax and consulting teams.

Office locations include Troy, Bingham Farms, or Ann Arbor, with a full‑time on‑site schedule and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive public accounting experience in audit and assurance.
• 5+ years auditing HUD‑assisted properties, EBPs, or non‑profit organizations.
• Active CPA license; Bachelor's in Accounting.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple complex engagements.
• Strong command of US GAAP, GAAS, SSARS and internal quality controls.
• Proficiency with ProSystem fx Engagement and CaseWare.

Responsibilities

• Oversee audit, review, and compilation engagements from planning to final report.
• Direct specialized assurance engagements for HUD projects, EBPs, non‑profit organizations, and privately held corporations.
• Review engagement workpapers, draft financial statements, and coach the team.
• Manage engagement economics including scope, risk assessments, scheduling, and billing.
• Mentor and evaluate senior auditors and staff, fostering career progression.
• Drive growth through business development, proposals, and client relationships.
• Partner with internal tax and consulting teams to deliver full‑service solutions.
• Enforce firm‑wide quality control and stay current with standards.

What you'll do

• Oversee audit, review, and compilation engagements from initial planning to final report issuance, ensuring strict compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and SSARS standards.
• Direct specialized assurance engagements for HUD projects, Employee Benefit Plans (EBPs), non‑profit organizations, and privately held corporations.
• Review engagement workpapers, draft financial statements, and technical reports, delivering constructive coaching that sharpens the team's technical capabilities.
• Manage engagement economics, including scope, risk assessments, scheduling, and billing, while serving as the primary advisor to key client stakeholders.
• Mentor and evaluate senior auditors and staff, fostering a collaborative culture and supporting individual career progression.
• Drive firm growth by leading business development initiatives, writing proposals, expanding existing client relationships, and representing the firm in the community.
• Partner with internal tax and consulting practices to deliver unified, full‑service solutions to clients.
• Enforce firm‑wide quality control policies and monitor evolving regulatory, accounting, and auditing standards.

What you need

• 10+ years of progressive public accounting experience in audit and assurance.
• 5+ years of dedicated experience auditing HUD‑assisted properties, Employee Benefit Plans, or Non‑Profit organizations.
• Active CPA license.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field.
• Proven track record of managing team workflows and overseeing multiple complex engagements concurrently.
• Deep technical command of US GAAP, GAAS, SSARS, and internal quality control frameworks.
• Proficiency with industry‑standard audit software (e.g., CCH ProSystem fx Engagement or CaseWare).

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Accounting or MBA.
• Proven background in practice development and pitch presentations for prospect acquisition.
