Job summary

CyberCoders in Southern California seeks a Senior Auditor for Public Accounting (CPA). The role leads engagements end-to-end, coaches staff, and interacts with controllers and CFOs. Expect a path toward manager with a base salary of $80,000-$100,000 and a 100% employer-paid medical plan.

Hybrid work in San Diego or Woodland Hills; 55+ hour weeks during peak seasons; strong US GAAP/GAAS knowledge and proficiency with CCH Engagement and Excel required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of public accounting audit experience.
• Active CPA license or eligible to sit for CPA exam.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, GAAS and internal control frameworks.
• Proficiency with CCH Engagement or comparable audit software and Excel.
• Ability to work 55+ hours per week during peak seasons.

Responsibilities

• Review and coach junior staff work papers with constructive feedback.
• Research US GAAP/GAAS issues, summarize findings, draft internal control recommendations.
• Serve as primary day-to-day client contact with controllers and CFOs.
• Monitor engagement budgets and scope, flag variances to managers and partners.
• Contribute to staff recruiting events, onboarding, and internal technical training.
• Meet monthly and annual billable hour targets.

What you'll do

• Own audit engagements end-to-end: plan fieldwork, coordinate client schedules, and deliver completed work papers on time and on budget.
• Review and coach entry-level staff work papers, providing specific, constructive feedback that accelerates their technical development.
• Research complex US GAAP and GAAS issues, summarize findings, and draft internal control recommendations that clients act on.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, building trusted relationships with controller- and CFO-level stakeholders.
• Monitor engagement budgets and scope, flagging variances to managers and partners before they become problems.
• Contribute to staff recruiting events, onboarding, and internal technical training to strengthen the team bench.
• Meet monthly and annual billable hour targets, supporting the firm's growth and your own advancement.

What you need

• 2+ years of recent public accounting audit experience.
• Active CPA license or currently eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

• Proficiency with CCH Engagement or comparable audit software and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work 55+ hours per week during peak audit seasons (January-April and summer).

Nice to have

• Experience with ERISA employee benefit plan audits.
• Experience with Uniform Guidance / Single Audits (federal grants).
• Familiarity with CCH Knowledge Coach, CCH Axcess, TeamMate Analytics, ProStaff, or Adobe Acrobat.
• Prior experience mentoring or supervising audit staff.

Pay & benefits

• Base salary: $80,000-$100,000 depending on experience.
• PTO: 160 hours (4 weeks) accrued from day one.
