Sr Manager, Electrical Project Engineering

Role Overview

The Sr Manager, Electrical Project Engineer oversees the electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects in development.

Responsibilities

• Design of balance of plant packages during development
• Engineering project support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations
• Ensure grid code compliance and interconnection requirements
• Specification and evaluation of major balance of plant electrical equipment
• Conduct power system modeling and studies
• Coordinate project engineering topics during construction
• Manage 3rd party engineering consultants
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts throughout the project lifecycle
• Incorporate health, safety, and environmental protections into designs and standards
• Support development of electrical engineering standards and processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Minimum 10 years of professional electrical engineering experience
• Experience in transmission, substation, collection/distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection/control
• Preferred experience in renewable energy projects (wind, solar PV, BESS storage)
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, with problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse backgrounds
• Detail-oriented with sound business acumen

Work Environment & Compensation

This is an office-based role with some travel to other RWE offices and field locations. The salary range in Illinois is $132,000 - $200,000, based on experience and qualifications.
