Role Overview

The Sr Manager, Electrical Project Engineer oversees the electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects in development.

Responsibilities
  • Design of balance of plant packages during development
  • Support engineering projects during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations
  • Ensure compliance with grid code and interconnection requirements
  • Specify and evaluate major balance of plant electrical equipment
  • Perform power system modeling and studies
  • Coordinate project engineering during construction
  • Manage 3rd party engineering consultants
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and experts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Incorporate health, safety, and environmental standards into designs
  • Develop electrical engineering standards and procedures
Requirements and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; advanced degrees may reduce experience requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of professional electrical engineering experience
  • Experience in transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution, major equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection/control
  • Preferred experience in renewable projects (wind turbines, solar PV, BESS storage)
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or in teams
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills across diverse backgrounds
  • Receptive to feedback and coaching
  • Attention to detail, business acumen, and understanding of business concepts

This role is office-based with some travel to other offices and field locations. Ability to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range in Illinois: $132,000 - $200,000, based on experience, responsibilities, education, and market factors.
