Summary

Lead, manage and develop public relations strategy, programs and communications that position and further cement Shake Shack as a fun, lively community gathering place and the leading modern day “roadside” burger stand. Reports to Director of Brand at Shake Shack to position and strengthen and protect the Shake Shack brand image among the consumer and business community through tailored narratives (press), strategic national initiatives and special events (conceptualizing and driving press-worthy moments and special projects that reinforce our narrative and ladder up to desired image) and national partnerships and brand alignments (creating association with image, ethos and reputation). Works cohesively with all key SSE departments to assure PR initiatives enhance and support the mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop compelling storytelling moments based on our brand pillars
  • Lead national LTO and key brand initiatives communications strategies
  • Oversee Executive and Leadership visibility strategy
  • Write press materials including briefing documents, press releases, messaging documents, Q&A’s, story ideas and so forth
  • Maintain key influencer relationships and execute Shake Shack’s influencer strategy
  • Oversee Shake Shack’s agency relationships both on a national and regional level
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across marketing, culinary, operations, digital, social and design
  • Stays close to trends, informing comms strategy on a regular basis
  • Lead and collaborate with teams across the organization for new ideas and corporate communications strategies at the regional and national level
  • Identify and manage high-impact media and press opportunities, speaking engagements, and other external events in all sectors where Shake Shack activates
  • Manage, in partnership with key stakeholders, Crisis Communications as well as the systems and processes involved to effectively navigate crisis communications moments for the company
  • Work with agency partners to build out campaigns and other communications programs
  • Support additional Shake Shack branded programs, projects, and events as needed

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • High-energy, positive self-starter who is willing to go above and beyond to make a difference in a growing organization
  • Media relations experience as well as experience crafting and writing messaging
  • Exceptional project management skills. Proven ability to handle time-sensitive projects and prioritize multiple objectives simultaneously, to work independently, and to drive projects to completion with minimum guidance and acute attention to detail
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Eager to share and advocate for well-constructed opinions
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to changing situations and priorities
  • Creative, resourceful, entrepreneurial and attentive to detail
  • Ability to think strategically but act tactically and evaluate tradeoffs
  • Finger on the pulse of pop culture with knowledge and understanding of buzzy brands, tastemakers and influencer

Related Experience

6+ years of experience in the Public Relations or Communications space, working at an agency or in-house (lifestyle or food experience a plus); required crisis communications experience. Demonstrate ability to work in a collaborative environment and dynamically align to changing business conditions.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or Related Field.

Pay Range - $118,595.00 - $151,245.00
