The BMC Senior z/OS Consultant provides leadership in technical delivery engagements by implementing mainframe infrastructure projects. A Senior Consultant works closely with the Practice Lead (PL) and Project Management (PM) team to meet customer requirements. The role involves hands-on software and configuration changes on customer systems, translating logical designs into physical implementations, and contributing to design documentation, procedures, and standards within BMS.

This position primarily focuses on our AMI Cloud product suite, including AMI Cloud Data, Vault, and Analytics. It involves migrating clients from physical and virtual tape systems to cloud-based storage and data protection. Knowledge of mainframe hardware/software infrastructure, backup and archive technologies, storage environments, system software configurations, security, UNIX/Linux, zCX, and object storage is required. The role also supports other product areas like AMI Data, AMI Ops Monitoring and Automation, and AMI Storage.

How you will contribute:

• Engage interactively with project staff and clients.
• Lead workshops and service engagements for smaller implementations.
• Analyze customer projects, ensure environment readiness, and meet delivery deadlines.
• Perform installation, configuration, migration, and implementation activities following all change controls and lifecycle procedures.
• Create design documentation supporting functional and technical requirements.
• Advise on project schedules and scope, and identify opportunities outside scope for further review.
• Successfully transition customer solutions into production and close projects.

Required skills and experience:

• 10+ years of mainframe technical experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer.
• 3+ years of backup experience with HSM/FDR-ABR, RTO, and RPO knowledge.
• 3+ years in customer-facing services or projects.
• Expertise in z/OS OS and Program Product installs, SYSPLEX, configurations, SMP/e, deployment strategies, and problem resolution.
• Experience with object storage, both on-premises and cloud (AWS/Azure).
• Knowledge of mainframe networking and storage technologies.
• Strong consultative and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Willing to mentor colleagues and promote best practices.
• Experience with deployment lifecycle across multiple environments.
• Ability to build relationships across teams.

Preferred:

• US Security Clearance (desirable).
• Experience with HSM/FDR-ABR Backup solutions.
• Migration experience with automation, scheduling, storage, and DR tools.
• Experience installing and configuring OEM software products, including BMC, IBM, and CA-Broadcom.

The salary range for this position is approximately $111,525 to $185,875, based on experience, skills, and organizational needs. This range is part of the total compensation package, which may include variable pay and benefits.
