Job summary

Central Transport LLC is seeking a Terminal Operations Manager in Kansas City to lead a designated dock area, oversee unloading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight handling.

You will manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules, monitor KPI goals, ensure safety compliance with DOT/OSHA, and mentor a team while maintaining a high standard of service.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing a team, preferably in transportation operations
• A thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking industry
• Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, and mentor employees
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills
• Must be willing to work 50 hours/week average
• Must be able to work any shift including nights and/or weekends and in any weather condition
• An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations for your designated section of the terminal dock. This includes unloading, forklift traffic management, and proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve the designated production schedule.
• Utilize independent judgment to build loads based on labor and freight availability.
• Ensure proper loading of carriers by monitoring cube and trailer weight.
• Provide leadership and accountability to drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production and achieve/exceed KPI goals.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Support company operational model compliance.
• Foster a culture of excellence in service to customers.

Salary ranges from: $60,000-$80,000 with up to 10% in additional bonuses.

Shift Time: Monday-Friday: 12:00pm - 10:00pm

Ideal Candidate Requirements

• Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-pressure environment with multiple priorities
• An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to

• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
