Job summary

The CSI Companies is hiring a Remote Senior Inpatient HIM Coder for a healthcare client based in Irving, TX. You will ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient diagnoses and procedures, maintaining a 95%+ accuracy rate and abstracting data into EMR systems.

You will collaborate with the HIM team to support proper billing, reduce denials, and maintain strict confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of inpatient coding experience with 95%+ accuracy.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient diagnoses and procedures.
• Experience with coding software and electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes per official guidelines.
• Review clinical documentation to assign MS-DRG/APR-DRG.
• Extract and abstract data into the EMR.
• Validate admit orders and discharge dispositions.
• Manage accounts in Epic Work Queues and finalize after corrections.

CSI Companies is hiring for a Remote Sr. HIM Inpatient Coder for our healthcare client based in Irving, TX.

Hours: Full-time hours, Monday - Friday 8a -5pm CST

Location: Remote

Pay: $30-40/hour based on applicable experience

Job Summary

The Remote HIM Senior Inpatient Coder will be responsible for maintaining high-quality, accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient diagnoses and procedures. Through a thorough review of clinical documentation and diagnostic results, the coder ensures an accuracy rate of 95% or higher. The coder will accurately abstract data into Client's electronic medical record systems, validate patient dispositions and physician data, and adhere to the Official ICD-10-CM/PCS Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.

You will work collaboratively with the HIM team and Clinical Documentation Specialists to ensure accurate and complete physician documentation to support proper billing and reduce denials. Additionally, the coder may assist in other departmental areas as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures per official coding guidelines.
• Review clinical documentation to generate appropriate MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignments.
• Extract and abstract required information into Client's electronic medical record system.
• Validate admit orders and discharge dispositions.
• Manage and resolve accounts in Epic Work Queues (WQs) and finalize accounts when corrections are made.
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists to ensure proper physician documentation.
• Uphold HIPAA standards, maintaining confidentiality and promptly reporting any incidents.
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher by consistently following Official Coding Guidelines and Client Health standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years' experience in inpatient coding with proven accuracy rate of 95% or higher
• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, with specific to MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignments
• Familiarity with coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Active CPC from AAPC or CCS from AHIMA is required
• Verifiable High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Technology: Experience with Epic or other electronic medical record systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clinical teams and other departments.
• Ability to manage deadlines and quickly adapts and re-prioritizes to deliver results
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction
• High attention to detail and the highest level of confidentiality
