Job summary

Central Transport is seeking a Operations Supervisor to oversee inbound terminal operations and lead a team of local LTL drivers and dock personnel. You will ensure on-time performance, safety, and efficient freight handling in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a high comfort with technology, with opportunities for growth within a nationwide network of terminals.

Qualifications

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping environment (LTL preferred).
• Strong leadership qualities and accountability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inbound operations for designated terminal dock area.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules.
• Oversee loading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight picking/sortation.
• Review driver routes to improve efficiency and adapt to workload changes.
• Monitor freight in transit and assist drivers with road issues.

Salary ranges from:

• $60,000 - $75,000 + up to 10% in bonuses

Shift time:

• Monday - Friday: 3:00am - 1:00pm

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee inbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Review and revise driver routes to increase efficiencies while monitoring a changing workload
• Being aware of freight that is in transit
• Assist and report issues that drivers face when they’re on the road (i.e. flat tire)
• Ensure facility Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals are met and/or exceeded
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards
• Provide / support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
