Job summary

Central Transport is hiring for a transportation operations role at our Peoria Heights facility. You will coordinate driver communication, monitor routes, and ensure safe, efficient handling of freight in a fast-paced LTL environment.

The ideal candidate has leadership, strong communication skills, and a solid grasp of technology to optimize day-to-day operations and customer service. A degree is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving (LTL) preferred.
• Strong leadership qualities and excellent written and verbal communication.
• High aptitude for technology and comfort with operational systems.

Responsibilities

• Relay critical information between drivers and vendors/terminal managers.
• Review and revise driver routes to increase efficiencies and adapt to workload.
• Monitor freight in transit and address issues on the road.
• Ensure KPI goals are met or exceeded and maintain safety standards.
• Foster a culture of excellence in quality of product for internal and external customers.

LOCATION: 5411 N Galena Road, Peoria Heights, IL 61616

Shift: 8am - 6pm, Monday - Friday

Salary: $60,000-$75,000 + 10% quarterly bonus potential

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Relaying critical information between drivers and our vendors/Terminal Managers
• Review and revise driver routes to increase efficiencies while monitoring a changing workload
• Being aware of freight that is in transit
• Assist and report issues that drivers face when they’re on the road (i.e. flat tire)
• Ensure facility Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals are met and/or exceeded
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards
• Provide / support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
