Job Title: Senior Human Resources Generalist/ Recruiter
Location: Normal, IL
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist / Recruiter to join our People Team in Normal, IL. This role plays a key part in fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture by supporting recruitment efforts, enhancing employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. You'll be a trusted partner to managers and employees, offering hands-on support to help individuals thrive throughout their employee journey.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee concerns and workplace conflict resolution in our Central Region
- Conduct internal investigations and document findings
- Advise managers on progressive discipline, performance improvement, and offboarding
- Coach managers through sensitive employee matters with empathy and consistency
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruiting: sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection for all Regions
- Partner with hiring managers to identify talent needs and develop job postings
- Coordinate and facilitate engaging new hire orientations and onboarding programs
HR Administration
- Support leaders in executing HR initiatives and organizational change efforts
- Administer leave of absence programs including FMLA, ADA, and workers’ compensation
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee files and records in HRIS (preferably ADP)
- Process employee status changes, terminations, and other employment actions
Compliance
- Stay current with federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices
- Ensure HR policies and employee practices remain compliant and effectively communicated
- Assist in the development, implementation, and interpretation of HR policies and procedures
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist or similar role
- Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Proactive, self-starter with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- High personal integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR certification
- Experience using HRIS/ATS systems, especially ADP Workforce Now
- Background in fast-paced, high-growth industries
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Additional Information
- This is an on-site role requiring presence in the Normal, IL office at least 4 days per week
- Occasional travel required, up to 25%
- Physical requirements include frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs)
- Must be comfortable with standard office environments and moderate noise levels
