Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP) serves as a strategic partner, providing effective HR operational services and advice to leaders, managers, and staff to support WhidbeyHealth's organizational objectives. The Sr. HRBP acts as a consultant on HR-related matters, including performance management and employee relations, serving as an employee champion, leadership coach, strategic partner, and change agent. This role involves working closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity, and enhance retention. Responsibilities include contributing to HR policy development, managing complex employee relations cases, and ensuring HR data and reporting support informed decision-making.

The Sr. HRBP will have supervisory duties.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS (other duties may be assigned):

  1. HR Business Partner
  2. Provides HR consulting related to human resources programs and policies.
  3. Offers policy guidance, interpretation, and recommends changes as needed.
  4. Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  5. Provides performance management guidance to management, including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
  6. Owns and maintains compensation tables and data, drives the organization’s Compensation Philosophy, and manages compensation planning and analysis.
  7. Ensures accuracy of all PARs for hires, internal movements, terminations, leaves, and miscellaneous changes through a verification process.
  8. Ensures accuracy of HRIS data with verification processes.
  9. Partners with Quality Departments on sanctions and conflicts of interest investigations.
  10. Facilitates HR meetings and maintains documentation.
  11. Reviews documentation for Activity Prescription Forms and Reasonable Accommodation requests, determining next steps.

Employee & Labor Relations

  1. Manages and resolves complex employee and labor relations issues, conducting thorough investigations.
  2. Maintains knowledge of legal requirements, reducing risks and ensuring compliance, partnering with labor attorneys as needed.
  3. Works to improve work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
  4. Provides guidance on employee relations issues, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and conduct matters.
  5. Researches laws and collective bargaining agreements, making recommendations based on analysis.
  6. Manages labor contract administration and provides interpretation to managers and staff.
  7. Advises on grievances, arbitration, and disciplinary actions, assisting managers in employee relations issues.
  8. Serves as the HR representative in contract negotiations.
  9. Keeps updated on trends, legal decisions, and statutory changes related to employee and labor relations.
  10. Facilitates communication with employee organizations and may represent the organization in arbitrations and hearings.

Supervision & Development

Supervises and trains the HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, and HR Specialist.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.

Training and Experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant HR experience.
  • Minimum 1 year as an HRBP.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Understanding of organizational structure, job roles, and compensation practices.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Preferred certifications include SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or PHR.

Wage Range: $90,000 - $130,000
