Job summary

Volto Consulting in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Sr GCP Cloud Architect to lead architecture, implementation, and operations of secure, reliable, and cost-efficient Google Cloud Platform solutions.

The candidate should have 8+ years in cloud/platform/data engineering with 4+ years hands-on GCP, plus strong Linux, containers, Kubernetes (GKE), IAM and security practices, and Terraform, CI/CD, Python or Go, and SQL.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux, containers, and Kubernetes fundamentals; GKE experience preferred
• Expertise in IAM, networking, security best practices, and secrets management on GCP
• Proficiency in Terraform, CI/CD, Python or Go, and SQL; solid schema/design and performance tuning
• Proven ownership of production systems, on-call, and resilience improvements

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver GCP workloads using Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL/Spanner, Pub/Sub
• Build infrastructure as code and CI/CD with Terraform, Cloud Build, Git with environment promotion and guardrails
• Implement identity and security controls (IAM, service accounts, Secrets Manager, KMS, org policies, VPC Service Controls)
• Design scalable networking (VPCs, subnets, NAT, load balancers, Private Service Connect) and interconnectivity
• Establish observability and SRE practices (Cloud Monitoring, Logging, Error Reporting; SLIs/SLOs, alerting, runbooks)
• Develop data platforms and pipelines with BigQuery, Dataflow/Beam, Composer/Airflow, Dataproc; batch and streaming
• Automate operations with Cloud Functions/Run and APIs; drive reliability, performance, and cost optimization
• Lead incident response and postmortems; mentor engineers and document standards
