Job summary

Advastar, Inc. in Dayton, OH seeks a Senior Project Manager / Estimator to lead bids and delivery of major T&D projects. You will prepare and review estimates from specs and drawings, drawing on historical data, and mentor project managers as the team grows.

Responsibilities include ensuring on-schedule, on-budget performance, cost-to-complete projections, and collaboration with foremen and subcontractors. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM or eng, or related field.
• PM certification preferred.
• 6–8+ years in construction mgmt (T&D/utility).
• Overhead/underground utility project experience.
• Estimating or bid prep experience.
• Experience mentoring PMs/engineers.
• Projects up to $12M with cost tracking.
• Work with foremen, subs, crews.
• Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Safe driving record and valid license.

Responsibilities

• Manage large T&D projects from bid to client acceptance.
• Prepare/review estimates from specs, drawings, takeoffs using history data.
• Mentor project managers and share estimating/field knowledge.
• Keep projects on schedule/budget and manage design/code/contract.
• Own monthly cost reporting on projects >$200K: projections, billings, change orders.
• Coordinate with foremen and subs; address client/subcontractor issues.
• Build utility customer relationships and visit sites/bids; travel as needed.
• Work on-site daily; Dayton office; no hybrid; local flexibility.

A growing electrical contractor is hiring a Senior Project Manager / Estimator for its Dayton-area transmission and distribution office. You will run larger utility T&D projects from bid through final client acceptance, build and review estimates, and mentor project managers as the team grows. The office is small, so this seat carries real influence over how work is bid and delivered. It is a strong step for a proven T&D project leader who wants a path toward running a division.

• Anticipated base $130K-$150K, based on experience
• Annual bonus target of 35% of base, with payout that can run above target
• Company vehicle in year one, then a $1,200 monthly vehicle allowance

Overview

• Manage larger and more complex T&D projects from bid preparation through final client acceptance
• Prepare and review project estimates from specifications, drawings, and takeoffs, drawing on historical job data
• Mentor and coach project managers and share hard-won estimating and field knowledge with the team
• Keep each project on schedule, on budget, and in line with design, code, and contract, and run the recovery plan when the schedule slips
• Own monthly job cost reporting on projects over $200K: cost-to-complete projections, billings, and executed change orders
• Work with foremen and superintendents to keep crews productive, and handle client, subcontractor, and craft issues before they escal
• Build utility customer relationships and visit sites and bids regularly, with occasional overnights
• Work on-site at the office each day (flexible 8-hour schedule, no hybrid); Dayton-area office, Columbus-area candidates may be considered

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (equivalent technical training and experience considered)
• Project management certification preferred
• Strongly Preferred - 6 to 8+ years of construction management, ideally in T&D, utility, or electrical contracting
• Strongly Preferred - Experience on overhead or underground distribution projects for utility customers
• Strongly Preferred - Estimating or bid preparation experience
• Experience mentoring or leading project managers, engineers, or coordinators
• Experience managing projects up to $12M with cost tracking, change orders, and billing on fixed price, unit price, or MSA work
• Experience working with foremen, superintendents, craft crews, and subcontractors
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Safe driving record and a valid driver's license
