Job summary

Advastar, Inc. in Dayton, OH, is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Estimator to lead large utility T&D projects from bid through client acceptance.

You will build and review estimates, mentor project managers, and influence bid and delivery strategies in a small, impactful office environment. This on-site role offers a base of $130K–$150K with a 35% bonus target, a company vehicle (then $1,200 monthly allowance), and strong benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k) match, profit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (equivalent training considered).
• Project management certification preferred.
• 6 to 8+ years of construction management experience, ideally in T&D/electrical contracting.
• Experience in estimating or bid preparation.
• Experience mentoring or leading project managers, engineers, or coordinators.
• Experience managing projects up to $12M with cost tracking, change orders, and billing.
• Experience with foremen, superintendents, craft crews, and subcontractors.
• Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Manage larger and more complex T&D projects from bid preparation through client acceptance.
• Prepare and review project estimates from specifications, drawings, and takeoffs.
• Mentor and coach project managers and share estimating knowledge with the team.
• Keep projects on schedule and on budget; run recovery plans as needed.
• Own monthly job cost reporting for projects over $200K, including cost-to-complete projections and change orders.
• Collaborate with foremen and superintendents to keep crews productive and address issues promptly.
• Build utility customer relationships and visit sites/bids regularly, including overnights.
• Work on-site at the Dayton office daily; Dayton-area candidates considered for Columbus area as needed.

A growing electrical contractor is hiring a Senior Project Manager / Estimator for its Dayton-area transmission and distribution office. You will run larger utility T&D projects from bid through final client acceptance, build and review estimates, and mentor project managers as the team grows. The office is small, so this seat carries real influence over how work is bid and delivered. It is a strong step for a proven T&D project leader who wants a path toward running a division.

• Anticipated base $130K-$150K, based on experience

Overview

• Manage larger and more complex T&D projects from bid preparation through final client acceptance
• Prepare and review project estimates from specifications, drawings, and takeoffs, drawing on historical job data
• Mentor and coach project managers and share hard-won estimating and field knowledge with the team
• Keep each project on schedule, on budget, and in line with design, code, and contract, and run the recovery plan when the schedule slips
• Own monthly job cost reporting on projects over $200K: cost-to-complete projections, billings, and executed change orders
• Work with foremen and superintendents to keep crews productive, and handle client, subcontractor, and craft issues before they escalate
• Build utility customer relationships and visit sites and bids regularly, with occasional overnights
• Work on-site at the office each day (flexible 8-hour schedule, no hybrid); Dayton-area office, Columbus-area candidates may be considered

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (equivalent technical training and experience considered)
• Project management certification preferred
• Strongly Preferred - 6 to 8+ years of construction management, ideally in T&D, utility, or electrical contracting
• Strongly Preferred - Experience on overhead or underground distribution projects for utility customers
• Strongly Preferred - Estimating or bid preparation experience
• Experience mentoring or leading project managers, engineers, or coordinators
• Experience managing projects up to $12M with cost tracking, change orders, and billing on fixed price, unit price, or MSA work
• Experience working with foremen, superintendents, craft crews, and subcontractors
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Safe driving record and a valid driver's license
