Sr Engineer, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Brief Job Description:

Quality Engineers are involved in requirements analysis, test planning, writing test cases/scripts, test case automation, and execution of all testing (which may include application integration, system, system/network integration, performance testing, and acceptance testing) required to ensure that the software is of the highest quality. After the project is released to production, these teammates also provide support to our internal customers, the technical operation group, and service management. Additionally, this role plays a part in internal process audits and improvements to build efficiencies.

Scope and impact:

  • Typically work in a single QA team, as a member of a DevOps team.
  • Work on projects/changes, requiring a general understanding of coordinated systems and/or at least one development environment.
  • Accountable for the quality of own work, delivered within procedures and timeframes, and focused on customer needs.
  • Work independently within defined parameters, taking ownership of problems within own knowledge area.
  • Make decisions within guidelines.
  • Recommend process improvements to immediate manager.
  • Some roles may coordinate the work of others.
  • Perform procedures to validate that all information systems meet company standards and user requirements.
  • Develop scripts and test cases, test modules of software products to ensure correct operation and defect-free performance. Document problems and work to resolve them. Report progress to management.
  • Implement improvements to current procedures and report on their success. Perform workflow analysis and recommend quality enhancements.

Required education/experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years testing or development experience.
  • Expertise with software testing methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server and/or Unix/Linux.
  • Familiarity with Cloud technologies such as AWS/Azure.
  • Experience with formal software development lifecycle and processes like CMM/CMMI.
  • Strong customer service awareness and teamwork skills.
  • In-depth analysis capabilities.
  • Test automation and programming skills in languages like Shell, Python, Perl, Robot, C, C#, Java, or VB, with at least 2 years of automation experience and 2-5 years of programming experience.
  • Optional experience in Networking, TCP/IP, financial markets, or project management.
