Lead Performance Optimization Software Engineer

London Stock Exchange Group, St Louis, United States

The real-time Lead Performance Optimization Engineer ensures that market data applications deliver data with optimized performance and latency, carrying critical financial data globally. Our high-performance software must deliver from exchanges worldwide to clients within milliseconds, normalizing data into a common format.

This role involves becoming an expert on LSEG's proprietary technology and performance metrics, using testing environments to identify and enhance system throughput.

Responsibilities:
  1. Implement performance tuning modules for efficiency and reliability.
  2. Investigate performance bottlenecks and develop solutions.
  3. Research and develop new solutions for software performance challenges using various technologies.
  4. Analyze performance indicators, collaborate with Operations and application teams to improve system bottlenecks.
  5. Act as a technical leader and problem solver within the global real-time collections team.
  6. Drive improvements in frameworks, infrastructure, and processes to enhance capacity and efficiency.
  7. Mentor team members to address capacity challenges at scale.
  8. Provide senior management with simplified views of system performance and capacity.
Qualifications:
  1. 8+ years of full software development lifecycle experience.
  2. 5+ years of object-oriented development in C++.
  3. Experience optimizing real-time systems.
  4. Strong Linux OS knowledge.
  5. Excellent communication skills.
  6. Team collaboration skills.
  7. Analytical problem-solving skills.
  8. Proficiency in testing and debugging, test-driven development.
  9. Ability to research and adapt to new technologies.
  10. Experience working with Technical Architects and Product Owners.
  11. Object-oriented design expertise.
