The Mainframe Senior Engineer will maintain customer environments, troubleshoot, plan migrations, and support mainframe systems, including z Series, Virtual Tape, Fiber switches, and networking related to Mainframe connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform reporting functions as required by customers
2. Support cases and incidents not solvable by Ops
3. Install, maintain, and configure ISV products
4. Assist with hardware configuration and upgrades
5. Support migration projects with minimal impact
6. Maintain system documentation
7. Work with customers on migration and remote management setup
8. Implement new technologies and develop offerings
9. Install OS and subsystem releases in coordination with customers
10. Maintain templates and participate in infrastructure projects
11. Occasional after-hours and weekend support

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Job Qualifications

• Experience as a Mainframe Systems Engineer
• Knowledge of z/OS, SDSF, TSO, HCD/IODF, SMP/E
• Experience with z/OS Subsystems (JES2, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, RACF, ASM, GRS)
• Familiarity with major subsystems (CICS, IMS, DB2, Datacom, MQ Series)
• Support functions for DBA and applications
• Understanding of VTAM, TCP/IP, Storage Management (SMS, HSM, DFDSS, VSAM, IDCAMS, ICF)
• Knowledge of z hardware, LPARs, storage in JBOD, RAID, SAN, and tape libraries
• Experience with OS upgrades, PTF deployment, automation, and monitoring tools
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with z/VSE and z/VM concepts
• Familiarity with hardware like DS8000, TS7700, tape systems, Flashcopy

Compensation:

Base salary range: $88,067 - $145,309. Final offer depends on experience and skills.
