The Mainframe Senior Engineer supports customer environments, troubleshooting and maintaining Mainframe systems, including z Series, Virtual Tape, and related networking. Responsibilities include system migration, backup management, and technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform reporting functions as required or requested by customer
2. Support cases and incidents / problems not solvable by Ops
3. Install, maintain, and configure ISV products
4. Assist with hardware configuration and upgrades
5. Support migration projects with minimal impact
6. Write and maintain system documentation
7. Support customer migration to FNTS or remote management
8. Implement new technologies per team roadmap
9. Install OS & major subsystem software releases
10. Maintain system templates
11. Participate as Mainframe SME in infrastructure projects
12. Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed

The Ideal Candidate:

Job Qualifications:

• Mainframe Systems Engineer experience
• Knowledge of z/OS, JES2, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, RACF, ASM, GRS
• Experience with CICS, IMS, DB2, Datacom, MQ Series
• Support functions for DBA and applications
• Communication protocols: VTAM, TCP/IP
• Storage Management skills: SMS, HSM, DFDSS, VSAM, IDCAMS, ICF Catalogs
• Knowledge of z hardware and LPAR configuration
• Experience with storage in JBOD, RAID, SAN
• Printer configuration troubleshooting
• Experience with tape libraries, OS upgrades, and software deployment
• Automation and monitoring tools experience
• Self-motivated, independent worker
• Excellent communication skills

Additional Qualifications include z/VSE, z/VM, hardware familiarity with DS8000, TS7700, tape systems, and mirroring technologies.

Compensation:

Range: $88,067 - $145,309. Final offer depends on experience, education, and skills.
