Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Generation & Data Center Infrastructure

Location: Houston, TX (On-site, 5 days/week with some flexibility)

Are you a power systems engineer who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and designing complex electrical infrastructure? We're seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to help develop cutting-edge power generation projects that support the rapidly growing demand for AI and data center infrastructure.

In this role, you'll be a key technical contributor responsible for designing and developing high-voltage electrical systems that connect power generation assets directly to large customer loads. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale power projects from concept through early-stage engineering, helping shape the future of energy delivery for mission-critical facilities.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop electrical infrastructure for large-scale power generation projects.
• Create and maintain single-line diagrams and electrical system designs.
• Support high-voltage substations, transmission interconnections, transformers, switchgear, breakers, and generator systems.
• Perform and review power system calculations, including fault current, short-circuit, load flow, grounding, and arc flash studies.
• Develop equipment specifications and technical requirements for major electrical equipment.
• Partner with utilities, equipment vendors, contractors, and project teams to solve technical challenges.
• Identify design risks, equipment constraints, and schedule impacts early in project development.
• Support cost estimating, equipment procurement planning, and project schedules.
• Present technical recommendations to internal leadership and project stakeholders.
• Help establish repeatable engineering standards that can be used across multiple sites.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience supporting power generation, utility, transmission, substation, or large industrial power projects.
• Hands-on experience creating or modifying electrical designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, including projects at 138kV and above.
• Experience with substations, utility interconnections, transmission systems, or power generation facilities.
• Familiarity with transformers, switchgear, breakers, generators, and related electrical equipment.
• Ability to work directly with utilities, vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility engineering, transmission, or interconnection experience.
• Data center or behind-the-meter generation experience.
• Knowledge of ETAP, SKM PowerTools, PSS/E, or similar software.
• Experience with arc flash, short-circuit, load flow, grounding, or equipment duty studies.
• Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience.
