Job description

Our client is a growing manufacturer and integrator in the critical power and data center market, with our own generator packaging line and a full data center electrical product portfolio (PDUs, UPS, static transfer switches, custom LV/MV switchgear, transfer switches, tap boxes, BESS, batteries, and transformers). We're expanding manufacturing capacity and headcount to keep pace with utility-scale and hyperscale data center demand, particularly across Texas.

About the Role

This role is a bridge position, not core equipment design. You'll sit between customer needs, utility/interconnection requirements, and our internal engineering and manufacturing teams, shaping customer-specific solutions from early concept through installation, commissioning and the ongoing life of large, multi-phase projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and sign off on short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies (SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower); prepare compliance documentation (NEC 700/701/702, NFPA 110, IEEE, UL)
  • Partner with sales during pursuit to influence engineer-of-record basis of design; engage peer-to-peer on paralleling topology, closed-transition/extended utility paralleling, and multi-unit plant architecture
  • Support utility interconnection applications (IEEE 1547/2800) for prime power, peak shaving, and demand response; interface directly with utility engineering on protection coordination and relay settings
  • Provide engineering support to generator packaging and switchgear manufacturing lines; support Level 4/5 commissioning (witness testing, load bank protocols) and field-service escalations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (Power/Energy Systems preferred)
  • 5+ years of power systems engineering experience with a substantial field component
Required Skills
  • Proficiency in short-circuit/coordination/arc-flash analysis tools and working command of NEC, NFPA 70E/110, IEEE 1547/2800, and UL standards
  • Direct experience with engine-generator and utility paralleling systems, medium-voltage (MV) equipment, and LV/MV distribution gear
  • AutoCAD and Revit Electrical proficiency
  • Willingness to travel 30–40%+
