A confidential Houston energy-infrastructure company seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems to translate customer power requirements into buildable electrical solutions. This role blends hands-on design with customer engagement across distributed generation, microgrids, and large-load infrastructure.

You will develop concepts and one-line diagrams, size equipment, and coordinate utility interfaces while leading technical discussions with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or closely related electrical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical concepts and one-line diagrams from early customer requirements.
• Size and select switchgear, transformers, generation equipment and MV/LV distribution.
• Work through utility interconnection, redundancy, reliability and site constraints.
• Lead technical discussions with customers, consultants, utilities and internal teams.
• Review specifications and develop technical responses for RFPs/RFQs.
• Compare alternatives based on cost, reliability, schedule, constructability and performance.
• Coordinate with Project Engineering, EPC, Product, R&D and Business Development as the solution moves toward execution.
• Present technical recommendations to both engineers and non-engineers.

A confidential Houston energy-infrastructure company is adding a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems to help turn customer power requirements into buildable electrical solutions.

About the Role

This is not a desk-only design role and it is not a project-management-only role. You’ll work directly with customers and internal engineering teams to answer questions such as: How should we power this site? What should the one-line look like? What equipment belongs in the system? How should generation, transformers, switchgear and the utility interface work together? Projects include distributed generation, microgrids and large-load infrastructure, including data-center applications.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• 5+ years working with electrical power systems.
• Professional experience with medium-voltage systems.
• Experience with switchgear, transformers and/or power generation equipment.
• Ability to develop or meaningfully review single-line diagrams.
• Experience working directly with customers or other external technical stakeholders.
• Ability to take an incomplete requirement and turn it into a technical solution.
• Able to work from the Houston area on a hybrid schedule.

Preferred Skills

• Distributed generation or BESS experience.
• Utility interconnection experience.
• Data-center or mission-critical power experience.
• Applications engineering or technical-sales experience.
• RFP/RFQ and compliance-matrix ownership.
• ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, PSS/E, AutoCAD or similar software.
• Load-flow, short-circuit, arc-flash or protection-coordination experience.
• Experience with an electrical OEM, utility, EPC or power-systems consulting firm.
