Job summary

Blue Signal Search is seeking an Electrical & Power Generation Engineering Leader for on-site work in Houston, TX. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic direction to shape the electrical platform, power systems, and integration with generation assets.

You will translate stakeholder needs into electrical requirements, guide equipment selection, and collaborate across mechanical, controls, and project teams while mentoring the growing engineering group.

Qualifications

• Experience across utility and power-system architecture and equipment-level electrical or power-electronics systems.
• Strong requirements-development experience, gathering multidisciplinary needs into specifications.
• Solid understanding of utility interfaces, grid connection requirements and electrical distribution.
• Technical depth in electrical equipment and power electronics to select and integrate components.
• Senior-level engineering experience with hands-on contribution during initial phase.
• Experience in power generation, distributed energy, data center power, or microgrids.
• Ability to work across engineering disciplines and with external technical organizations while owning electrical decisions.
• Direct and transparent communication to surface concerns and guide decisions.

Electrical & Power Generation Engineering Leader

Our client is a high-growth energy technology company preparing to bring advanced power solutions into real-world commercial environments. At this important stage of growth, the organization is looking for a highly experienced electrical engineering leader who can connect utility-facing power requirements with the equipment and power electronics that make the complete system work. This person will have significant influence over how the electrical platform takes shape, initially serving as a hands‑on technical authority before building and leading a broader engineering function.

Focus:

• Convert input from engineering, deployment, commercial, and external stakeholders into clear electrical requirements and actionable technical specifications.
• Develop the overarching electrical approach connecting power generation equipment, distribution infrastructure, utility interfaces, protection, controls, and supporting electrical hardware.
• Evaluate grid connection and utility requirements while accounting for operating scenarios that may include grid-connected, behind‑the‑meter, and independent power applications.
• Determine the appropriate electrical and power‑electronic equipment for the system, with an emphasis on effectively integrating proven commercially available components.
• Serve initially as the senior hands‑on electrical authority, working directly through architecture questions, technical tradeoffs, integration challenges, and engineering decisions.
• Coordinate electrical requirements and interfaces across mechanical, controls, project, and other engineering disciplines to support a cohesive deployable system.
• Work with equipment suppliers, engineering partners, integrators, and other external stakeholders to establish technical expectations and resolve system‑level issues.
• Create a strong technical foundation for the electrical function and progressively provide leadership and mentorship as the engineering team expands.

Skill Set:

• Meaningful engineering experience across both utility and power‑system architecture and equipment‑level electrical or power‑electronics systems. Experience limited to only one of these areas will not meet the requirements of the role.
• Strong requirements‑development experience, including gathering multidisciplinary needs, converting them into specifications, and using those specifications to establish a practical electrical solution.
• Solid understanding of utility interfaces, grid connection requirements, electrical distribution, and the considerations involved in connecting generation assets to larger power systems.
• Technical depth in electrical equipment and power electronics sufficient to determine what components belong within the system and how commercially available equipment should be integrated.
• Significant senior‑level engineering experience with the ability and willingness to operate as a highly hands‑on individual contributor during the initial stage of the role.
• Relevant experience may come from power generation, distributed energy, data center power, industrial energy systems, microgrids, or similarly complex electrical environments.
• Ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines and with external technical organizations while maintaining clear ownership of electrical decisions.
• Direct and transparent communication style, with the confidence to surface technical concerns early, explain tradeoffs clearly, and help teams make timely decisions.
