Job summary

Central Transport LLC is seeking a hands-on Terminal Supervisor in Effingham, IL to oversee outbound trailer operations and dispatch a team of CDL drivers across city routes. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and customer service in a high-volume LTL environment.

You will lead dock workers and drivers, monitor KPI goals, and ensure compliance with DOT/OSHA standards while maintaining a schedule that supports a strong service network in the Midwest.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (LTL preferred).
• Strong leadership qualities and ability to guide a team.

• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outbound trailer operations on the terminal dock; loading, forklift traffic, and unloading palletized freight.
• Dispatch a team of 5-10 LTL drivers across city pickup and delivery routes.
• Plan and revise driver routes to maintain efficiencies with changing workloads.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring cube and weight.

Salary: Up to $75,000 + bonus

Shift: 9:00am - 7:00pm Monday-Friday

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee outbound trailer operations on the terminal dock; loading, managing forklift traffic, and unloading of palletized freight.
• Dispatch a team of 5-10 LTL based CDL drivers across city pickup and delivery routes.
• Plan, review, and revise driver routes to maintain efficiencies with an ever changing workload and freight in-transit.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
