Job description

Position Summary:

Formed by Downtown businesses, professionals, civic organizations, foundations, and residents, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) develops and implements innovative programs, events and initiatives to enhance the Downtown neighborhood. The PDP is seeking a highly motivated sales professional to grow our corporate partnerships program, building and maintaining strong relationships with the partners that support PDP's signature events, programs, and mission.

As the Sr. Director of Corporate Partnerships, you will lead and grow a portfolio of corporate partners representing approximately $1.5 million in annual support. You'll go beyond traditional sponsorship by understanding each partner's business objectives, whether that's brand visibility, community engagement, employee involvement, or market presence, and designing partnerships that deliver on those goals while advancing PDP's mission. You will also identify and cultivate new partners, building mutually beneficial relationships that grow annual revenue to support PDP events and public space and public art activations.

The ideal candidate will be a highly responsive relationship builder with demonstrated ability to cultivate corporate relationships, develop creative sponsorship opportunities, negotiate and close agreements, and deliver exceptional partner experiences. This position will work extensively with PDP's Events and Marketing & Communications teams to ensure that all partner commitments are successfully fulfilled.

The Senior Director will supervise the Development Coordinator and work closely with senior leadership and external partners to strengthen PDP's corporate network and identify new opportunities to advance the PDP's work in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead PDP's sponsorship program, stewarding a portfolio of approximately 60 corporate partners and $1.5 million in annual sponsorship commitments, with responsibility for maintaining strong renewal rates and growing annual sponsorship revenue.

  • Prospect and pitch new partners for PDP signature events while building relationships with the great partners PDP has in our portfolio for Picklesburgh, Oktoberfest, Light Up Night, Holiday Market and other Downtown activations, maintaining an ongoing pipeline of prospective partners aligned with PDP's mission.

  • Work closely with the Events and Marketing & Communications teams to identify and develop sponsorship inventory, marketing assets, and customized packages that align PDP's events and audiences with partner goals and increase the revenue potential of PDP programs.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate marketing and community engagement leaders and other key stakeholders through regular communication and event engagement.

  • Oversee the development of sponsorship sales materials and lead proposal presentations, clearly communicating the value and impact of partnership with PDP.

  • Coordinate across internal departments to ensure sponsorship commitments, benefits, activations, and marketing deliverables are successfully fulfilled and partners receive consistent, professional experience throughout the partnership.

  • Work toward assigned revenue goals and maintain accurate pipeline tracking and reporting on revenue performance, renewals, prospect activity, and pipeline opportunities.

  • Steward relationships with philanthropic and government partners, aligning PDP's work with their priorities and managing grant compliance and reporting; collaborate with the team to identify and secure new funding partners.

  • Supervise the Development Coordinator in support of sales, fulfilment, tracking, and reporting functions.

Desired Characteristics & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, nonprofit management or a related field.

  • 5 years of experience in corporate partnerships, sponsorship sales, business development, fundraising, B2B sales, or related field.

  • Exceptional relationship building skills and ability to build relationships with marketing and community engagement professionals.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow into larger partnership deals.

  • Strong sales, presentations, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Project management and organization skills to manage multiple partners, deadlines, and deliverables simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and coordinate projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to attend PDP events and partner engagements outside of traditional business hour, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Benefits
