University of California, Merced is seeking assistance in administrative/clerical duties, performing routine tasks, and providing clerical support within a departmental team.
Incumbents may work under close supervision, handling standard office procedures, with occasional assignments requiring discretion and confidentiality. Temporary postings reopen every six months, with background checks required.
The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is Step 1: $21.92 - Step 14: $28.72. The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is Step 1: $21.92/hr.

Incumbents may provide business services such as purchasing, inventory and stores, facilities and space utilization; and provide general clerical as well as administrative assistance to departmental staff. Applies basic skills to fulfill the work assigned; performs routine and/or repetitive tasks; limited decision making required; generally works under close supervision; has limited experience; work is performed from within specific limits of established procedures and/or defined instructions. This position has responsibility for an end product of work and by independent application of knowledge of standard office methods and procedures. Assignments entail some phases of a program or service involving performance of a variety of detailed operations in related sequence or series.
