Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Carrier Acquisition Specialist to market, source and screen potential independent carriers. You will verify safety and insurance requirements and help onboard new partners to expand capacity.

Travel up to 50% may be required as you build relationships through cold calls, emails and presentations to demonstrate the value of partnering with J.B. Hunt.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2–3 years of professional experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management, Marketing or Communication with 2–3 years of direct sales experience.
• Experience in a sales position, recruiting, and knowledge of the transportation industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist with gathering necessary items from carrier to expedite onboarding.
• Train and mentor Carrier Acquisition Representatives, especially new hires.
• Track leads for new carriers to develop working relationships and capacity growth.
• Explain process to become an approved carrier and maintain activity in qualification databases.
• Evaluate whether carriers meet contracting conditions including insurance and safety requirements.
• Develop strategy related to outbound calls, financial returns and capacity growth.
• De-escalate issues from Carrier Acquisition Representatives during onboarding.
• Create and deliver marketing materials and sales presentations to attract carriers to the J.B. Hunt network.
• Build relationships via cold calling, email, and online databases; travel up to 50%.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for working with external third parties to market, source, solicit, and screen potential independent carriers. In addition to ensuring prospective carriers meet minimum contracting conditions including safety and insurance requirements of J.B. Hunt and the DOT, the incumbent will be responsible for helping develop strategies related to team goals in order to increase capacity and financial growth through effective carrier relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with gathering necessary items from carrier to expedite the onboarding process.
• Train and mentor Carrier Acquisition Representatives, particularly new hires or junior team members.
• Track leads for new carriers that could develop into a working relationship to drive external capacity growth.
• Explain the process to become an approved carrier and maintain status of activity in the qualification process within the company's outsource capacity database.
• Evaluate and determine whether prospective carriers meet minimum contracting conditions including insurance and safety requirements of J.B. Hunt and the DOT through a prescribed qualification process utilizing carrier management tools such as Safersys and internal partners such as Corporate Safety.
• Develop strategy related to departmental goals for outbound calls, financial returns, and/or capacity growth.
• De‑escalate issues from the Carrier Acquisition Representatives in relation to the carrier onboarding process.
• Create and deliver marketing materials and sales presentations to communicate and demonstrate the value and benefits of our diversified business model for carriers to partner with the J.B. Hunt network in order to increase carrier base. Acts as a subject matter expert for carrier marketing action plans.
• Build relationships via cold‑calling, email, and online databases with potential carriers by explaining the value of carrying with J.B. Hunt in order to create and maintain a pipeline of contacts. Responsible for developing relationships with carriers base and managing relationship negotiation. Travel to customers may be up to 50%.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent with 2‑3 years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management, Marketing or Communication with 2‑3 years of direct sales experience.

The expected starting pay range for this position is between: 66,000‑82,500.

This position is not eligible for employment‑based sponsorship.

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
