Position Overview
The Sr. Manager of Business Development for North America will lead the deployment of BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) integrated solutions in the utility‑scale energy storage market across North America. This role is critical for driving the growth of a newly established division within an established renewable energy company. The incumbent will cultivate strong, sustainable relationships with both external and internal business partners, including suppliers and customers, to ensure the successful and strategic expansion of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand customer needs, market trends, and inputs from organizational leadership to align product strategy and roadmap in the energy storage market segment.
- Engage with leading energy storage developers in the U.S. to understand their key business drivers and ensure our product and service offerings maximize value for their portfolios.
- Develop comprehensive proposals in response to customer tender requirements, ensuring our offerings are optimized both technically and commercially.
- Explore and evaluate new market segments for the expansion of our product offerings.
- Collaborate with internal development and delivery teams, as well as external suppliers, to ensure alignment on product consistency and schedule expectations. Participate in midterm and final product design reviews to assess quality.
- Collaborate in the development of post‑service strategies with internal and external service partners to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with field marketing and sales teams to manage the product launch process.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in the energy sectors, BESS experience is preferred.
- Proven track record in business development, particularly in the energy or renewable sectors.
- Experience in reviewing and responding to customer procurement processes.
- Strong decision‑making abilities, particularly in determining product guidelines, purpose, and ensuring follow‑through and completion.
- Solid understanding of financial reports, including budgetary guidelines and product expenditures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate in cross‑functional teams.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to travel as needed—approximately 50‑60% travel required.
