Job description

As a Senior Associate of Province’s Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (“ABC”) practice, you will serve as the day-to-day project manager for ABC engagements in which Province and its affiliates act as assignee and estate fiduciary. You will lead all aspects of estate administration, from pre-assignment planning and asset preservation through asset disposition, claims reconciliation, tax compliance, creditor distributions, and estate closure, with minimal supervision. The role requires strong client management skills, sound business judgment, capacity to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, and the proven ability to direct internal team members, external personnel, and professionals across projects (including counsel, tax advisors, brokers, auctioneers, claims and noticing agents). Your expertise in understanding assignment agreements, sale documents, and insolvency processes will be essential in ensuring compliance with the estate’s obligations and maximizing recoveries to creditors.

  • Oversee the marketing and disposition of estate assets, including going-concern and orderly liquidation sales, coordinating with counsel, brokers, and auctioneers to maximize value for creditors.
  • Oversee the claims process, including the intake, review, and reconciliation of proofs of claim (including tax and wage/priority claims), claim objections, and negotiated resolutions with counsel.

  • Support practice development, including pitches, proposals, and referral relationships with attorneys, lenders, venture capital, and other sources of ABC engagements.
  • Manage, train, and develop internal associates and analysts, delegating and reviewing workstreams and providing constructive feedback.
