Job summary

nVent is seeking a finance professional to drive plant financial operations, project accounting, and general ledger management in Fulton, MO or Oshkosh, WI. This role partners with Project Management, Engineering, and plant leadership to ensure accurate reporting and drive cost improvements.

Responsibilities include month-end close, revenue recognition, and complex invoicing while maintaining compliance with US GAAP and SOX.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance.
  • 5+ years in operational finance, FP&A, or corporate finance; project accounting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of plant standard costing, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, U.S. GAAP, and Sarbanes‑Oxley.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, JDE).
  • Exposure to OneStream or Tableau is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close activities, including revenue recognition and GL verification.
  • Manage project accounting activities, including invoicing and billing compliance.
  • Partner with AR and Project Management to facilitate timely billings and cash collections.
  • Analyze financial and operational performance via regular reporting (labor, materials, productivity, variance).
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements; support SOX.

This role combines responsibilities for plant financial operations, project accounting, and general ledger management. The individual will act as a business partner to cross-functional teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with US GAAP, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes. The position supports both operational and project-based activities, including month-end close, revenue recognition, and financial analysis. This role can reside at our Fulton, MO or Oshkosh, WI location and will work 4 days in office/1 day remote

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
  • Lead month-end close activities, including revenue recognition, percentage-of-completion analysis, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger verification.
  • Manage project accounting activities, including customer invoicing, billing compliance, and resolution of complex invoicing and payment issues.
  • Direct liaison with Accounts Receivables and Project management to facilitate timely billings and cash collections.
  • Analyze financial and operational performance through daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, including labor, material, productivity, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements; support internal, external, and customer audits as needed.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Project Management, Engineering, and plant leadership to drive cost, cash, and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and business support to enhance operational effectiveness and decision-making.
YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in operational finance, FP&A, or corporate finance; project accounting experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of plant standard costing, Percent‑of‑Completion revenue recognition, U.S. GAAP, and Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, JDE); exposure to OneStream, Tableau, or similar tools a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to translate financial data into business insights.
  • Ability to travel up to 10–15% annually and flexibility to support month‑end close.
