Jobot is hiring a Senior Accountant for an on-site, permanent role in Roanoke, TX. You will lead general ledger activity, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and monitor project costs and profitability to drive stakeholder decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong GAAP knowledge applied to financial reporting.
• Experience with construction accounting, job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition.
• Proficient in Excel and ERP systems.
• Clear communication and collaborative work style.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activities including journal entries and month-/year-end close.
• Prepare accurate GAAP financial statements and schedules.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, commitments, and profitability; report variances.
• Maintain WIP schedules and support revenue recognition and contract accounting.
• Review job cost allocations, subcontractor costs, change orders, retainage, and billings.
• Support cash flow forecasting and AR/AP activities to manage working capital.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes.
• Partner with operations to resolve issues and provide financial insights.
• Provide guidance to accounting team and ensure consistent practices.

Job Details

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Monitor construction project costs, budgets, commitments, and profitability, investigating variances and communicating findings to project managers and leadership.
• Maintain work-in-progress schedules and support revenue recognition, percentage-of-completion calculations, and contract accounting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Review job cost allocations, subcontractor costs, change orders, retainage, and project billings for accuracy and completeness.
• Support cash flow forecasting and review accounts receivable and accounts payable activity to identify risks and improve working capital management.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to inquiries.
• Strengthen internal controls, improve accounting processes, and identify opportunities to streamline reporting.
• Partner with operations and project management teams to resolve accounting issues and deliver actionable financial insights.
• Provide guidance to accounting team members and support consistent accounting practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in the construction industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP or equivalent accounting standards, with the ability to apply applicable GAAP requirements to financial reporting.
• Experience with construction accounting, job costing, work-in-progress reporting, and contract revenue recognition.
• Demonstrated strength in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and close processes.
• Proficiency with accounting or construction ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with finance, operations, and project teams.
• CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus.
