Job summary

Ranpak, a leading packaging solutions company, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for our Ohio facility to oversee close processes and GAAP reporting. You will reconcile general ledger, prepare financial statements, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Ideal candidates have a BA in accounting, at least 5 years in accounting (manufacturing preferred), and strong Excel skills. CPA preferred; SAP and HFM are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

• 5+ years in accounting.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel; SAP and HFM desired.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly and quarterly financial close process.
• Review and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare financial statements and variance analyses.
• Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax returns.
• Support external audit engagements with documentation.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance and training to accounting staff.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on initiatives.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manages the monthly and quarterly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
• Reviews and reconciles general ledger accounts, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with accounting principles
• Prepares financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and provide detailed analysis of variances
• Prepares and files quarterly and annual tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Supports external audit engagements by providing documentation and explanations of financial transactions and supporting schedules
• Develops and maintains accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Provides guidance and support to accounting staff, assisting with training and development as needed
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and process improvements
• Performs other accounting duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA designation preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a public company manufacturing sector
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software applications. SAP and HFM highly desired
