Job description

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial records and timely reporting. This role will assist with general ledger activity, reconciliations, and month-end close, while partnering closely with the Financial Controller to support financial processes across multiple business units. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow within a dynamic and expanding organization.

This role requires the ability to work independently in a distributed environment while supporting employees across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Support payroll coordination and related accounting entries
Month-End Close & Reporting
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare account reconciliations, including bank, inventory, and balance sheet accounts
  • Help compile financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned close tasks
Compliance & Audit Support
  • Maintain organized documentation for audits and financial reviews
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
  • Assist with the implementation of new systems or process improvements
  • Support standardization of accounting practices across business units and locations
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 2-4+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, or industrial environments is a plus
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently
  • Skilled at prioritizing and executing tasks across multiple projects
  • Collaborative and experienced in cross-functional, team-oriented environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required
  • Experience with NetSuite (ERP), Asana (project management), and Klipfolio (business intelligence/dashboards) preferred
  • In-office presence required
  • Some intermittent travel to various manufacturing and processing facilities may be required
  • Must be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and safety regulations
