Position Title

Senior Staff Accountant

Position Purpose / Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant performs a variety of transactional accounting and reporting functions and plays a leading role in the Accounting Department’s preparation of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements, as well as business unit performance analysis. This position requires solid knowledge of accounting principles and processes and the ability to extract and analyze data from an ERP system. Responsibilities
  • Perform journal entries to record financial information from source documents.
  • Properly code transactions within the general ledger.
  • Perform reconciliations for accrual, prepaid and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Month‑end and year‑end consolidation entries.
  • Fixed asset and lease accounting.
  • Monthly and year‑end business unit and consolidated financial statement preparation.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary information.
  • Review transactions for compliance with internal controls and company policies.

  • Accurately meets all assigned month‑end and year‑end accounting responsibilities within the stated closing timeline.
  • Maintain or improve days to close.
  • Contribute to finance team objectives in support of continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Education:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA or other Finance Certifications a plus.

Experience:

  • 3 years of staff accounting or equivalent work experience required.
  • Transaction‑based accounting in an ERP system.
  • Self‑motivated and self‑directed to meet business needs and expectations, including team contribution.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in attention to detail, a professional attitude and demeanor, and proven reliability.
  • Comparing current business unit performance to prior periods and drawing qualitative conclusions regarding underlying causes for changes in performance.
  • Understands changes in assets, liabilities, and cash flow.
  • Problem‑solving to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Superior accounting knowledge, with a deep understanding of financial statements and the transactions represented by underlying entries.
  • Confident and comfortable managing multiple expectations and deliverables constantly.
  • Willing to learn and contribute beyond specific topic as needed.
  • Creates rapport with others easily and sincerely so as to demonstrate trust and receive trust.
  • Works effectively in an environment in which the parameters may change frequently; able to adjust behavior to meet the needs of different people and situations.

Technology/Software (years):

  • Competence in using ERP software in an accounting capacity.
  • Advanced Excel.
  • Thorough competency in all accounting entries, following procedures in accordance with the internal control environment.

  • Well‑developed written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
