Job summary

Ponaganset High School is seeking a Co-Ed Outdoor Track & Field Assistant Coach (SPRINTS) to lead and develop student-athletes, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and academic growth. Reporting to the Athletic Director and Principal, you will coordinate practices, monitor safety, and embody leadership on and off the field.

The role requires coaching experience with adolescents, adherence to RIIL regulations, and completion of NFHS and BCI prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching adolescent age students in competitive sports.
• Meets Rhode Island/state requirements for coaches including BCI check and NFHS courses.
• Must hold or be willing to obtain NFHS coaching certifications and health/safety trainings.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants, small groups, and teams in skills for a successful experience.
• Supervises participants and teams at all times.
• Implements RI Interscholastic League rules and district policies.
• Monitors academic performance and emphasizes high scholastic achievement.
• Acts as role model and maintains professionalism under stress.
• Schedules practices and games with athletic director and other coaches.
• Informs AD about facilities, equipment, and uniforms conditions.
• Communicates with the AD about team issues and activities.
• Notifies AD of safety concerns and delegate responsibilities as needed.
• Performs all other duties as defined by athletic director and principal.
