Job summary

Tampa Electric Company is offering a Spring 2027 Utility Accounting Student co-op in Tampa, FL. This role focuses on ERP accounting, general ledger activity, journal entries, and supporting regulatory reporting.

Part-time (20–30 hours) with on-site work in a normal office environment. The successful candidate will be enrolled in Accounting or Finance, possess basic accounting knowledge and MS Excel skills, and complete a pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a university co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible, the student will be considered an intern.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Position Summary/Details:

Responsible for executing corporate accounting activities related to Tampa Electric Company and its affiliates, including enterprise-wide accounting with a focus in ERP accounting systems, general ledger processing and journal entry creation. Responsibilities include cash clearing processes, specific accounting, and analysis, and supporting other financial and regulatory reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

• To qualifyas a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
