Job summary

Tampa Electric Company in Florida is offering a Spring 2027: Property Accounting Co-Op. You will assist in the preparation, maintenance and monitoring of property, plant and equipment activities, including project analysis, reconciliation, and depreciation reporting.

Part-time (20-30 hours) in a normal office setting at 3600 Midtown Dr, Tampa. As a student, you will gain hands-on experience with AFUDC, unitization, and monthly closeout tasks, while learning from experienced professionals through

• Enrollment in an accredited university; undergraduate or graduate in a related discipline.
• GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Pre-employment drug screening, physical exam and background check will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze CWIP work orders to determine in-service dates for assets.
• Complete unitization of work orders to properly functionalize assets into depreciation accounts.
• Calculate, analyze and report on monthly AFUDC and depreciation.
• Assist in completing monthly closeout activities.

Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Position Summary/Details:

The Property Accounting Co-Op Student/Inroads will assist in the preparation, maintenance and monitoring of activities related to property, plant and equipment for Tampa Electric. These activities could include project analysis, reconciliation, unitization, and closure of Capital work orders, AFUDC and depreciation reporting, net book value analysis and other ad-hoc information requests.

Key Responsibilities and/or Learning Objectives

• Review and analyze CWIP work orders to manager in-service dates of Company assets
• Complete the unitization of work orders to appropriately functionalize assets into their appropriate depreciation accounts
• Calculate, analyze and report on monthly AFUDC and depreciation
• Assist in completing monthly closeout activities

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post‑secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co‑Op Requirements

To qualify as a co‑op student, enrollment in the university’s co‑op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co‑op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.

A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
