Job summary

TECO Energy is offering the Spring 2027 Utility Accounting Student co-op with Tampa Electric Company in Florida. You will gain real-world experience in corporate accounting activities focused on ERP systems, general ledger processing, and journal entries.

Responsibilities include journal entries, payment postings, invoice creation, audit requests, and assisting with closeout. The program is part-time (20-30 hours/week) and requires enrollment in a related bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited university as an undergraduate or graduate student in a related discipline.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
• Co-op program enrollment proof; if not eligible, the student will be considered an intern.

Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

Position Summary/Details:

Responsible for executing corporate accounting activities related to Tampa Electric Company and its affiliates, including enterprise-wide accounting with a focus in ERP accounting systems, general ledger processing and journal entry creation. Responsibilities include cash clearing processes, specific accounting, and analysis, and supporting other financial and regulatory reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

• To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
