Job summary

Tampa Electric Company seeks motivated students for Spring Internships and Co-Ops to support the Strategy & Business Development group. The Co-Op will assist with research, analysis, and coordination of strategic initiatives, gaining exposure to corporate strategy, operations, regulatory, finance, and cross-functional teams.

Position offers 20-30 hours per week with school flexibility, and may extend to 40 hours.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited university (co-op or internship eligibility).
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Conduct strategic research on industry trends and regulatory developments to inform planning.
• Support KPI analysis and translate findings into clear summaries and visuals for leadership updates.
• Collaborate with finance, engineering, operations, regulatory, and customer experience teams to gather inputs and prepare materials for meetings.

Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Position Summary/Details

We are seeking a motivated Spring Interns and Co-Ops to support Tampa Electric’s Strategy & Business Development group in enhancing and strengthening the company’s strategic planning and implementation efforts. The Strategy Co-Op will assist with research, analysis, and coordination activities with strategic initiatives. Working collaboratively across the organization, this role provides foundational exposure to corporate strategy, operations, regulatory, finance, and have the opportunity to participate on cross-functional teams.

Physical Location of Co-op Opportunities: Midtown East: 3600 Midtown Drive, Tampa, FL 33607

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements

• To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Preferred discipline or degree type: Finance, Accounting, or Other Business

Preferred/related discipline: Data Analysis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strategic Research & Industry Analysis – Conduct research on industry trends, peer utility strategies, regulatory and legislative developments, and other external factors influencing Tampa Electric’s strategic direction. Summarize results and synthesize findings into insights to inform strategy discussions and planning efforts.
• Financial, Business & Comparative Analysis – Support benchmarking and key performance indicator (KPI) analysis by reviewing inputs, identifying trends and variances. Help translate analytical findings into clear summaries, visuals, and presentations that support strategy discussions, business cases, and leadership updates.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy Communication – Partner with teams across finance, engineering, operations, regulatory, customer experience, and other functional areas to gather inputs and support coordinated strategy efforts. Assist in preparing materials for internal meetings, leadership updates, and planning sessions, ensuring complex information is communicated clearly and effectively.

• Mostly in a normal office environment

• 20-30 hours per week ideally but can accommodate up to 40 hours if that is what you are seeking.
