Job summary

The City of Lathrop is seeking a Recreation Coordinator I to oversee and coordinate youth and adult sports programs and facilities, and assist with training and supervision of volunteers and coaches. This role develops day-to-day recreation operations, schedules leagues, monitors expenditures, and maintains records while promoting programs through outreach and community engagement.

A strong volunteer base is built to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Provide excellent customer service.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with other City staff and the public.
• Possess excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements and supervises the day-to-day operations of a recreation program; assists with the preparation of the Department budget; recommends and monitors expenditures; purchases all supplies for assigned programs.
• Responds to public inquiries about programs; develops a volunteer base; promotes public awareness of activities through media and flyers; maintains contact with community members and groups.
• Maintains records and reports on activities, attendance, supplies and other information; develops and recommends new programs; reviews and evaluates current programs.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations.
• Develops, implements, evaluates and coordinates sports programs and leagues; schedules the leagues and programs.
• Recruits, trains, and evaluates officials, coaches, and volunteers; supervises officials, coaches and volunteers.
