Qualifications

• Completion of medical assisting or comparable education.
• Prior experience in a physician office setting, preferably orthopedic or surgical.
• Casting experience desired.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon during office hours by facilitating patient flow and preparing for exam.
• Educates patients, triages and returns phone calls, communicates changes to clinic schedule.
• Removes or applies wound dressing.
• Assists in the application or teaching related to bracing/casting.
• Removes sutures or staples after physician assessment of wound.
• Prepares supplies and draw up injections for physician.
• Electronically retrieves x-ray, MRI, or other records for physician.
• Obtains insurance pre-certification and schedules pre-admission testing; handles related paperwork.
• Ensures pre-op education is delivered; places prescription refill orders as directed.
