Job summary

Qualifications

Position Overview

Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit: The Athletic Department is a vital part of student life and the educational process at Elizabeth City State University. It provides a well‑rounded schedule of college athletic competition designed to encourage participation by the student body. The department encourages physical fitness and the development of physical skills and emotional control.

Job Responsibilities

The Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for all publicity received and sent concerning the Athletic Program.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Self‑motivated, creative and organized with the ability to direct and perform detailed work with accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with diverse groups.
• Computer proficiency and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, including InDesign and Photoshop.
• Ability to travel with teams and work evening and weekend hours when required.
• Experience with StatCrew software and website administration.
• Knowledge of CIAA / NCAA and University policies and procedures.
• Leadership and motivational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with little supervision.
• Physical ability to lift, carry and set up equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Training and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with related experience at an institution of higher learning.
