Overview
Position: Admissions Counselor – Division of Academic Affairs, Department/Unit: Enrollment Management, Section: Admissions (section). Primary purpose of the unit is to attract, admit, and enroll eligible students, and to support student progression, performance, and graduation.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Associate Director of Admissions in achieving the mission of recruiting, admitting, and enrolling undergraduate and graduate students and student athletes.
- Counsel prospective students and their families about the programs of study offered at Elizabeth City State University.
- Exercise authority to independently admit and enroll students and provide guidance through the enrollment process.
Qualifications
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills; good public speaking and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current education practices in higher education and trends for high schools, community colleges, and colleges/universities, with emphasis on recruitment and admissions; be knowledgeable of academic programs and admission requirements.
- Proficiency in Banner Student Module, Internet Native Banner, AdmissionPros, Self-Service Banner, and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to travel four to six weeks (non-consecutive) during fall and three to five weeks during spring; ability to travel overnight and work some evenings and weekends.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with substantial co-curricular involvement; valid driver's license required.
Licensing/Certification
- Valid driver's license required.
