Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Division Sports Director to oversee youth and adult sports programming across multiple YMCAs in the region. You will lead staff and volunteers, manage budgets, and drive program development to strengthen community impact.

The role requires strong leadership, fiscal oversight, and the ability to collaborate with branch management and community partners. Flexible hours and travel within the division are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management/ Recreation/Health Sciences or equivalent preferred.
• At least 21 years or older.
• 1-2 years supervisory experience.
• Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends.
• Able to obtain BLS instructor within 90 days of hire.
• Proficient with computers and able to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages center sport’s operating budgets to meet targets.
• Provides safe, organized, and quality sports programs serving community needs.
• Plans and implements sports programming per the association calendar.
• Implements membership strategies to recruit and retain members.
• Promotes the Y in the local community and coordinates facility usage.
