Job summary

YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas seeks a Program Director to drive growth and administration of youth and family programs, including sports, youth activities, and events. You will collaborate with center leaders to welcome, support, and engage members and participants.

Lead a values-driven team, manage program delivery, schedules, and outreach to strengthen community ties and ensure high‑quality member experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; youth programming experience preferred.
• Minimum of three years supervisory experience.
• CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Complete trainings: NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, CAP, Sexual Harassment.
• Background checks including Virginia State Police and CPS checks must be satisfactory.

Responsibilities

• Support the YMCA mission and goals.
• Lead youth and family programs focusing on development, health, and social responsibility.
• Plan, organize, and promote programs and special events for youth and families.
• Manage payroll and program budgets; track attendance and participants.
• Hire, develop, and retain staff and volunteers; provide coaching and training.
