Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Educational Support Worker to join a sports-based SEMH provision in Shrewsbury. The role focuses on mentoring and supporting secondary-age students through physical, emotional and social activities, with no teaching background required.

Working Tuesdays, 9:00am–3:00pm during term time, you will help students build confidence, teamwork and emotional regulation, staying calm when behaviour is challenging and following safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• No teaching background required; focus on people skills and mentoring.
• Experience mentoring or coaching young people is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively with emotionally vulnerable students.
• Willingness to work in a sport-based educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support young people through physical, emotional and social activities
• Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a role model
• Encourage confidence, teamwork and emotional regulation
• Stay calm and grounded when behaviour is challenging, and help students reset
• Work alongside the Education Lead and team, following safeguarding procedures
